Grilled steak strip salad with mixed greens, grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, red onion, corn, and A1-style vinaigrette on the side

Retro A1 Salad Dressing

By: Honey & Habaneros

This A1 Dressing is bold, tangy, and just the right amount of retro. A1 steak sauce was a dinner table staple for decades, from around the mid 1900’s through the 90s. This dressing brings back that nostalgic flavor in a fresh way. When A1 steak sauce is whisked in with Dijon, olive oil, fresh garlic, and a splash of red wine vinegar, it turns into a smooth, flavorful vinaigrette that’s perfect for steak salads, hamburger salads, or even drizzled over roasted veggies.

Why You’ll Love This Dressing

If you’re looking for a dressing that’s anything but boring, this is it. The bold, tangy flavor of A1 gets a lighter, fresher spin when blended into a vinaigrette. It’s unique enough to stand out but familiar enough to become a new favorite you’ll reach for again and again.

Simple Ingredients, Big Flavor

The magic here is how quickly everyday ingredients transform into something special. You’ll need A1 steak sauce, Dijon mustard, olive oil, red wine vinegar, honey, a small clove of garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Just whisk or shake it all together and you’ve got a smooth, flavorful dressing in minutes—no blender required.

Versatility at Its Best

This A1 Dressing is a natural match for hearty salads like steak or hamburger salad, but don’t stop there. Try it drizzled over roasted or grilled vegetables, use it as a marinade for chicken or pork, or spoon a little over roasted or baked potatoes for a bold, unexpected twist. It’s the kind of dressing that will surprise you with just how many dishes it works with.
